DESCRIPTION:2022\nWorld Day of Remembrance\nFor Road Traffic Victims\n  \nThe 2022 World Day of Remembrance will be held Sunday\, November 20th at 6 pm\, at the Clark County Amphitheater\, 500 Grand Central Parkway directly behind the Government Building. This uplifting ceremony honoring the lives lost and forever changed in a car crash\, will feature spiritual leaders\, music\, uplifting speakers\, law enforcement and Commissioner William McCurdy; the event is sponsored by Commissioner Michael Naft. \nAttendees are encouraged to bring photos of their loved ones and mingle with others whose lives have been impacted by a similar experience. Worldwide\, 1.25 million lives are lost each year in traffic crashes\, which is why\, in 1993 this day was set aside\, In 2003 the World Health Organization and the United Nations became the official sponsors of the event to get more countries involved in this important event. \n2021 road fatalities in Nevada were the highest in decades\, and in 2022 Clark County continues the trend. \nSeveral years ago the WDR was expanded to include those involved in critical crashes\, along with the emergency responders who work so hard to save the lives of those involved in critical crashes: police\, fire\, ambulance personnel\, paramedics and trauma staff. \nIf you would like a Free World Day of Remembrance Candle to light for your loved one at the event please use our CONTACT US PAGE TO REGISTER and let us know his or her name. DESCRIPTION:4th Annual #Dusk2DawnNV Kicks Off At\nFirst Friday!\nThe Fourth Annual #Dusk2DawnNV campaign kicks off this Friday\, where everyone is a pedestrian… First Friday! The annual effort reminds all road users that days are shorter; meaning there is greater danger on roads due to lack of visibility. This year’s message reminds those walking and driving of the critical role they play in people getting home safely. The “Do the Bright Thing” message to pedestrians and the “Will You See Them in Time”? message to drivers both highlight the fact that 80 percent of pedestrian deaths occur from #Dusk2Dawn. \nPedestrian fatalities in Clark County year-to-date have topped the 2019 total\, with two months of the year to go\, and are ahead of 2020 and 2021 total year-to-date.  Most alarming is that there were ten pedestrian fatalities in Clark County last November\, if this were true this year\, we would have the worst year of the past five years by the end of November with another month to go in 2022. \nThis message is critical in our community\, darkness is no friend of road users.

In addition\, the mall has two locations with 3-D holiday art families can take pictures in. \nPolice\, Fire and Ambulances will start the parade and Santa will be following in an antique fire truck courtesy of Angel Fire; families are invited to follow behind as part of the parade and will join Southern NV Bicycle Coalition members on bikes. This will be a great family event. and all are encouraged to come! Winners of bikes and prizes must be present to win\, and free helmets are available while supplies last. All COVID measures\, including masks\, will be required to participate. \n
