The annual "Safe Santa" event took place last Saturday, bringing together emergency responders and safety advocate groups to impart crucial safety education on walking, biking, sober driving, seat belts, and child seats.
The event aimed not only to distribute gifts, such as free bikes and bike helmets, but also to extend safety awareness to children who may not otherwise have access to such resources. Lieutenant Michael Campbell of CCSD Police emphasized the dual purpose, stating, "We're not only giving 
gifts to deserving kids, but we're also spreading knowledge about safety. When children receive these wonderful bikes, they can also learn to prioritize safety by wearing helmets, not just during the holidays but throughout the entire year."
Additionally, Santa himself emphasized the importance of cautious driving during the festive season, encouraging motorists to slow down and prioritize safety on the streets.
